[Venkman steeples his hands.]

...You're naming the Shuckle Fuckel. You- Sir Wigglesworth was bad enough, Egon, now you're just doing this shit on purpose-!

[He tries to keep it together, but once Ray starts laughing, he loses it, too, and has to grab onto Ray's shoulder to keep himself upright.

The Sandygast slowly... well, not nods, but part of its sand body jostles in a way reminiscent to a nod. Some things are hurt by knives and others are not. Ok. It will remember that. How does it know what will be hurt from knives and what won't?

Elsewhere on the beach, Kildarby looks up from preening at the sound of her trainer laughing. Damn. Looks like Egon's still standing. Ah, well. Another day, maybe she'll be luckier.]

[Egon's expression becomes sour as he says in an insulted tone:]

I still don't see what's wrong with Sir Wigglesworth. It's a perfectly fine name that honors a great entomologist.

[The newly-christened Fuckel--or Karl, if you're so inclined--peers cautiously at the two laughing humans. Humans do the strangest things sometimes. It gently reaches out a tendril towards Ray, as if wanting to be picked up.

Delphi continues to munch of snacks, apparently calming down from her earlier fit. She rubs her head, wincing as she casts a glance towards her trainers. Things seem to be fine so far for them. Maybe doom was averted today? That would be good.]

[Ray is still doubled over laughing and it takes him a good minute to eventually recover, but when he does he happily holds Fuckel, still giggling while he does so.]

Egon, please never change; I'm begging you.

[He loves you so damn much.

Annie nods. Usually it's nice to ask first! People usually know if they're hurt by knives or not! And if they don't it's best to stay safe so you don't hurt them. That would be mean.

Axle gently pats Delphi's head. He knew it was too nice of a day for doom to happen. No apocalypse would look at this nice beach weather and decide to attack.]

God... I second that. Please keep naming your pets terrible things. It's the best part of this dimension.

[The laughter has finally gotten the attention of the Sandygast. It shuffles around until it's facing them. Would they be hurt by knives?

It begins to shuffle its way towards the Ghostbusters.]

[Fuckel curls around Ray's arms and peers at him with curiosity. Hello, human. You seem to be laughing a lot, for some reason. He blinks very slowly. His tendrils feel slightly slimy, though not sticky.

Egon turns to look towards the shore when he sees the sandcastle slowly shambling towards them. His eyes widen in shock as he waves towards the other Ghostbusters, trying to catch their attention.]

Look--Look over there! It's a Sandygast, a bonafide Class III possessor!

[He doesn't seem threatened at all by the knife--rather, he sounds extremely excited (by Egon standards) as he starts sloshing over to the shoreline.]

Hey F-fuck-

[Okay no he can't say that with a straight face, he lets out a snorting laugh and tries his hardest to regain his composure as he pats the poor Shuckle.

Luckily he stops laughing when Egon points out the Sandygast.]

Are they holding a knife?

[He also... sounds way too excited about this.

Okay that worries Annie a little. Yeah knives would hurt them!! :c He trainer Ray got hurt somehow and he wouldn't move for a week and she thought she lost him.

She was really sad.]

Why does it have a knife? [A beat.] Why do I feel like my Pokemon are responsible?

[Venkman has clearly gotten very used to having a troupe of troublemaking bastard Pokemon.

Sigourney floats over, excited.]

'🐦👽💀🔪💍🏖️🏰‼️'

... You tried to kill and marry a castle?

'🚫'

[He shakes his head, bemused, as he tries to parse this out.

The Sandygast approaches Egon curiously, knife out. It'll heed Annie's words- it doesn't make any attempt to hurt him. It's just standing there. Menacingly.]

[Fuckel continues to stare at Ray, though he eventually directs his attention to what's going on closer to land. Please don't drop him, human.

Egon is about a yard away from the sandcastle when he stops, staring into the "windows" of the Sandygast. He stands there for several moments in silence, his gaze unwavering.

Then, without turning to face his partners, he mutters, under his breath:]

...the modern Prometheus. [He kneels closer, offering a hand for the Sandygast to...uh...feel? Can't really shake hands with a sandcastle.] Greetings. Please do not stab me with the knife. It would hurt very badly.

[Ray is now gently cuddling Fuckel, making sure that he doesn't drop the child.]

They look friendly! I'm sure Annie wouldn't want to associate with someone who went around stabbing people.

[Annie beams at her dad. Right! She's a good person who befriends non-stabby people! And that confirms that stabbing them would definitely hurt without hurting them!!]

[The Sandygast holds eye contact with Egon for an uncomfortably long time. Slowly, it shuffles forward to press one of its sand mounds against the palm of Egon's hand- like the iconic scene from HTTYD, but it's a fucking sand castle and not a dragon's face. It does not stab Egon with the knife, though it doesn't drop it, either.

Sigourney, meanwhile, sends over snippets of her own memories- of Kildarby "talking" with her(though Venkman can't understand what's being said), building the castle, the Sandygast coming to life- and Venkman jerks back, somewhat in shock.]

You brought sand to life?

[If Egon could, he would scoop this baby Sandygast into his arms right now. He allows the Sandygast to say in his hand for a few moments before gently moving his hand away. All the while, Egon maintains eye(?) contact with the mound.

After a few more moments of silence, he turns back to face Venkman and Ray, his eyes glinting with excitement. He looks just a tad unhinged, what with having been soaked to the bone, conked over the head with a Shuckle, and...you know, being approached by a literal ghost sand castle with a knife.]

We have to keep it for further study.

[That's not a request. That's a command.]
