I've never considered that theory, actually. If humans are a subset of Pokémon, does this mean that the humans native to this dimension can produce eggs?

[He presses the button on the PokéBall, causing it to swing open and expose the inside.] The problem with these devices is that due to their foreign construction, we do not know each individual part's purpose in the overall design. It will be entirely up to us to understand how these work.

Well I've heard that you can't get pregnant in this dimension, so it's a possibility!

... Maybe we should test that out later.

[Ray don't encourage him.

He frowns slightly]

I guess we could reverse engineer the devise and go from there!

[Egon inclines his head towards Ray, grinning ever so slightly. He carefully begins to unscrew the hinge so the PokéBall comes apart into two hemispheres, linked together by a few thin but sturdy wires.]

Here, I'll work on this half. [He scoots forward a little and places the PokéBall on Ray's bed so he can easily reach it.] Though, how we'll test any of this is a mystery.

[Riley notices that something is going on with her dads. She pauses in the middle of nibbling on Cerberus's tail and flips herself upright, skittering over to poke her nose into the PokéBall.]

[Ray pulls out a screwdriver (where did he get that?) and starts tinkering with his half, grinning as he does so.]

I think the best way is so figure out how each individual part works. It will take awhile but this way we can learn adjust the Pokeball to our own needs-Hey there Riley!

[He doesn't even try moving Riley out of the way. Meanwhile Cerberus gets up and hops up on Ray's head, trying to get a good look on what his dads are doing.]

Absolutely. If we ever run into a rut, I can try and look up what information there is on electronic engineering in this dimension at the library.

[Egon rubs Riley's snout before directing his attention back to the Pokéball. He scratches his head, then begins to work. Riley lets out a satisfied clicking noise before tilting her head and looking over at what her dads are looking on.]

Let's hope we don't accidentally get sucked into the containment unit while we're working on it.

Hey, if we do get sucked in, then we'd know we're on the right track!

[Ray goes to tinker on his side, but he soon pauses, looking guilty.]

Hey, uh, I want to apologize for scaring you guys back there, especially after I already scared you guys for falling into a coma awhile back.

[It's sadstuck time.]

[i hate you keep using sadstuck and keep reminding me i used it in the first place :^(

Egon doesn't look up from his work, though he does frown lightly.]

There's no need to apologize. I've noticed there is a statistical tendency for harmful incidents to occur to us while exploring unknown areas charged with psychokinetic energy.

[...So he's saying they're trouble magnets.]

And, anyways, this is only a slight hiccup in whatever plans we had. You'll be back on your feet sooner than you realize.

Still, I feel like I've been on the brunt end of a lot of pain lately, I think it's about time for one of you guys to have something bad happen to them!

[True love: telling your bfs they should get hurt.]

[Oh, Ray. Oh sweet baby Ray. Don't say that. Because as soon as he does, Egon pokes at a part in the PokéBall, and an arc of electricity hits him right on the back of his hand. Cringing, he pulls his hand away and says flatly:]

Ouch.

[The electricity immediately makes Riley react. Dad hurt?! She'll fight it! Before Egon or Ray can react, she dives towards the offending PokéBall, jaws opened wide as she crunches right down on the device. The wires sputter and spark as bits of metal get ground between her teeth. Satisfied that the evil is dead, she spits out the other parts onto Ray's lap and trots up to him, expecting to be pet.]
